Kundapur, Nov 5: A man met a horrifying death after a crane crashed on him near Chatarekallu under Amasebail gram panchayat limits here on Thursday November 5.
The deceased has been identified as Rama alias Krishna (33), a resident of Tarikatte near Belve.
A tipper carrying boulders from Chatarekallu stone quarry fell into a roadside ditch. A crane was then brought from Kodgi Granite to lift the tipper out. Rama who had driven the tipper was helping in the operation. All of a sudden, the crane fell to the ground and Rama got crushed underneath.
Amasebail police led by inspector Sunil Kumar rushed to the spot and with the help of another Hitachi mover, the crane was moved to the side. The body was taken for post-mortem and later handed over to Rama's family.
Rama was the breadwinner of his family. He leaves behind his mother, wife and two sons. His father passed away about 25 years ago after lightning struck him while working on his field. From a young age, Rama worked hard to feed his mother and sister, and about 10 years ago, his sister got married, after which he also followed suit. His two young sons go to Anganwadi school.
Amasebail police have registered a case.
