Karkala, Nov 7: Udupi district superintendent of police, Annamalai, said that police sub-inspector of the station here, Imran, has been suspended from duties forthwith for misconduct.
Imran along with his wife, had visited a shop in the town for buying provisions and other items on the night of November 3. At that time, a youth named Raghavendra Moily had also come to this shop for purchasing things, and when paying the bill, he reportedly accidentally touched Imran's wife. Imran, alleging that Moily had deliberately touched his wife, had not only abused Moily, but also assaulted him.
Raghavendra, who was injured in the incident, is being treated at the taluk government hospital here. On the basis of information provided by the hospital, a case stands registered in the rural police station here against Imran. Local assistant superintendent of police, Dr Sumana, had investigated the case.
