Xi to meet Taiwanese counterpart in Singapore


Singapore, Nov 7 (IANS): Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou arrived in Singapore on Saturday for a landmark summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Upon his arrival, Ma was greeted by members of the Taiwan Business Association, who had gathered with a banner, The Straits Times reported.

The historic Xi-Ma meeting at the Shangri-La Hotel will be held at 3 p.m.

The summit is the first meeting between the leaders of China and Taiwan since their 1949 split.
