Ajman, Nov 7: Dr D Veerendra Heggade, the Dharmadhikari (administrator) of the historic Dharmasthala Temple in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka visited Gulf Medical University (GMU) campus in Ajman, UAE, on Saturday November 7.
Dr Heggade was accorded a warm welcome by Thumbay Moideen, founder president of the board of governors of GMU, Prof Gita Ashok Raj, provost of GMU, Akbar Moideen Thumbay, vice-president of the healthcare division of Thumbay Group, the deans of the colleges of GMU, and the members of the administrative team of Thumbay Group.
Dr Heggade was taken on a tour of the GMU campus, and briefed about the various facilities and infrastructure. He also interacted with the deans as well as the senior personnel in GMU’s Center for Advanced Biomedical Research & Innovation (CABRI) and Center for Advanced Simulation in Healthcare (CASH). A presentation outlining GMU’s achievements, its emphasis on research-based learning, its top-notch facilities and curriculum and the diversity of its people was presented to Dr Heggade.
Dr Heggade expressed great admiration for the facilities at GMU. He lauded the efforts of Thumbay Moideen in establishing a world-class university delivering high-quality medical education, healthcare and research, and appreciated his vision for establishing such a comprehensive facility. He wished Thumbay Moideen and the team greater successes for the future.
GMU is presently the most sought-after private medical university in the UAE. Established by Thumbay Group Founder President Thumbay Moideen in 1998 as Gulf Medical College (GMC), it became a full-fledged medical university, the Gulf Medical University in 2008. GMU is the first private medical university in UAE catering to all nationalities admitting students of both genders, presently having students from over 73 nationalities, and faculty and staff from 22 nations. GMU offers a range of courses including MBBS, BPT, DMD, PharmD and masters programmes in clinical pathology, public health, and toxicology.
