Udupi, Aug 13: The state government has introduced a unique scheme for brides by way of which a deposit of Rs 10 thousand in the name of each is placed, which would be returned along with interest after two years, said state minister for medical education here. This facility is available to all brides getting married at mass wedding ceremonies during 2007-08, he added.

He was delivering chief guest’s address during the 7th consecutive annual mass wedding programme held in the Halima Sabju auditorium in Udyavar near here on Saturday.

Mass weddings are essential since there are innumerable poor families in the community.  This would facilitate better relations in the community, he opined.

Moreover he hoped that the mass wedding programmes would become ideal for other communities to follow. He also conveyed his best wishes to all newly-wedded couples.

Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Udyavar parish priest Fr L Coelho and Udupi APMC president Vijay Kumar Udyavar also conveyed their best wishes.

Udyavar Halima Sabju Auditorium Trust managing trustee Abdul Khalid, Udupi district Waqf advisory committee chairman Budan Pasha, Jamiat-ul-Falah Udupi unit president Ibrahim Saheb Kota, vice president Khalimulla Tonse, gram panchayat member Riyaz and others were present at the ceremony.

Moulana Abdul Riyaz Naqvi invoked verses from the Holy Quran.  Udyavar Jumma Masjid Khatib Moulana Abrar Rashid Rezmani welcomed.  Khalid compered the programme.  Moulana Ismail Shiroor invoked Allah’s graces on the newly wed couples.

Eight couples from across the state were united in nikah during the ceremony.

In all other mass marriages, the money is spent by trustees from the public fund or endowments or devotees charities. But Mr Abdul Jaleel Saheb spends from his hard and legally earned money, which very very few people in this world do.

We all must pray for his prosperity and long life so that in the years to come there shall be many more such weddings under his patronage. He might have lost a fortune in this world but I am sure he has made a good fortune in the hereafter(Aakhirah).

I'm pleased to to see this kind of mass weddings in all the communities particularly in Muslim communities. But I  was very surprised to read the Minister of medical education's statement to give the interest to the such kind of mass weddings. Hence Islam prohibits any kind of interest and the Moulanas, who were present at the ceremony should have been opposed it instantly as the leaders of the Muslim community.

I appeal the readers be aware of these so called Moulavis.

It's good thing that the Sate Govt has introduced the new scheme for the brides. However, at the same time we must be aware of paying or receiving interest of any kind as Islam strongly prohibits it. So, it's been very very sad to see the Moulvi's initiating this kind of programmes by supporting common unknown people. These Moulvis are really leading the people to the hell fire. So please be aware of Interests. Jazaakallahu Khair
