Mangaluru, Nov 14: Sri Rama Sene on Saturday November 14 condemned the arrest of its leader Pramod Muthalik in Hassan on November 10 demanded his release, and warned that if Muthalik was not release in the next three days, severe state-wide protests would be held.
The Sri Rama Sene also demanded Rs 25 lac for the family of Harish, who was stabbed to death at Manihalla near BC Road recently.
Addressing a press meet at Arya Samaj Bhavan here, Sri Rama Sene provincial convenor condoled the death of Harish and said, "The state government should provide Rs 25 lac to Harish's family and also order judicial probe into his murder. Judicial probe should also be ordered into the death of VHP leader Kuttappa in Madikeri."
Demanding the release of Pramod Muthalik, he said, "When Pramod Muthalik got information that 12 Hindus were attacked in communal violence, he went to visit them, and without any provocation he was arrested at midnight.
"He should be released by Tuesday November 17, if not Sri Rama Sena will hold severe state-wide protests and the state government will be held responsible if anything untoward happens," he warned.
Commenting on Tipu Jayanti celebrations, Mahesh Koppa said, "Tipu Sultan was not a freedom fighter. He demolished temples and built mosqes, he insulted Kannadigas and tried to impose Tukish language. Tipu Jayanti celebration is only to appease Muslims for vote bank. This Jayanti also resulted in four deaths in the state. Sri Rama Sener will never allow the government to celebrate Tipu Jayanti in future."
He also congratulated those who supported the protests called by VHP and Bajrang Dal on November 13.
He also informed that from January 1, 2016, Sri Rama Sene would hold a year-old membership campaign. "Right now we have 1,35,00 members in the state, and we aim to increase the number to 2.5 lac during the campaign," he added.
