Wet outfield delays start of fourth day's play of Bengaluru Test

Bengaluru, Nov 17 (IANS): The start of the fourth day's play in the India-South Africa second cricket Test has been delayed because of wet outfield at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Tuesday.

The umpires inspected the ground at 11.30 a.m. and judged that another inspection will be required at 1 p.m. before taking any decision on the start of the day's play.

It was noticed that the bowling run-up area was soggy, as was the the square leg area.

Play was called off on Sunday and Monday and with the first session of Tuesday too washed away, as many as seven sessions have been wasted because of rain.

India, at 80 for no loss, were trailing South Africa by 134 runs at the end of Day one with openers Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan batting on 28 and 45 respectively.

Earlier, India bowled South Africa out for 214 runs in the first innings.
