Italian shot in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Nov 18 (IANS): An Italian man was injured when he was shot by unidentified gunmen in Bangladesh's Dinajpur district on Wednesday, police said.

The man was waiting at a bus stop when he was attacked, Xinhua quoted a police official from Dinajpur district, 338 km from capital Dhaka, as saying.

The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment, the official said.

The age and identity of the victim were not known immediately.

Islamic State (IS) group jihadists had earlier claimed the killings of an Italian and a Japanese national in the country.

Japanese Kunio Hoshi was gunned down four days after Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella was shot dead in Dhaka on September 28.
