Happy to work with Amitabh Bachchan: Farhan Akhtar

Mumbai, Nov 18 (PTI): Actor Farhan Akhtar says he had a great time working with megastar Amitabh Bachchan on their upcoming film "Wazir".

Farhan, 41, who earlier directed the "Piku" star in "Lakshaya", will be seen working with Bachchan for the first time in the Bejoy Nambiar-directed film.

"I was happy to spend time with him (Bachchan). We all are a huge fan of him and have grown up watching his films. I spoke to him a lot about the past, about him approaching other roles, about his association with Salim saab and my father (Javed Akhtar), how they worked together.

"We spoke a lot about 'Deewar' and had long conversations regarding it. He is very witty, very funny," Farhan told repeaters.

The actor was speaking on the sidelines of the trailer launch of "Wazir".
Neil Nitin Mukesh, who plays the titular role, said he was nervous when he was approached for the character by the film's producer, Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

"I had a mammoth task as my character had to intimidate Mr Bachchan's character. I said how can you intimidate someone whose name itself intimidates you? But then I thought, my career would be incomplete if I don't work with him, Vidhu sir and the entire team."
The film also stars Aditi Rao Hyadri and John Abraham in a special role.

"Wazir" writer Abhijat Joshi, who has penned films like "PK", "3 Idiots", also spoke about the issue of writers being underpaid and not getting their due credit in the industry.

"I think writers themselves have a lot to do. There is a competence issue as well... You just can't say I deserve to be famous. You need to deliver for a long long time.

"The problem exists but the only solution is to go on creating work to the best of your ability... If you do it consistently and long enough then people have to notice and give importance."

"Wazir" is set to release on January 8, 2016.
