Hassan, Nov 19: A teacher of a primary school in a village in Arkalgud taluk of the district allegedly raped a fifth standard student of his own school on Tuesday November 17.

The teacher, Srinivas (49), had raped a student of his school, alleged the girl's parents in a complaint filed in Arkalgud police station on Wednesday.

It is gathered that on Tuesday, Srinivas happened to be the only available teacher at the school, as other teaching staff were on leave. At 3.30 pm that day, he asked a fifth standard student to accompany him to the library, in the guise of searching for a missing book. Once there, he raped the girl, it is alleged.

After reaching her home, the girl remained dull and did not consume dinner. On Wednesday morning, she started crying, expressing her reluctance to attend the school. She then confided with her elder brother what she had gone through on Tuesday.

The parents of the girl went to the school along with some fellow-villagers and took the teacher to task. They then approached block education officer with the complaint. Block education officer, Nagesh, visited the school and made inquiries. The policemen went to the school, took the guilty into custody and started investigation.
