Srinagar, Nov 24 (IANS): Normal life across the Kashmir valley was partially affected on Tuesday due to shutdown called by separatists to protest the killing of guerrillas in south Kashmir.

Private vehicles were plying on capital Srinagar's roads, but only partial public transport was seen in uptown and civil lines areas of the city. However, markets in old city remained closed.

Banks, post offices, schools and government offices were also impacted due to the strike in the city and other places in the Valley with reduced attendance due skeletal traffic availability.

The strike also affected inter-district transport service in Kashmir. However, traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway was unaffected.

Hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani had called for the shutdown against the killing of three guerrillas belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen outfit on Monday in Tantraypora Siligam of Anantnag district, 70 km south of Srinagar.

The operation was jointly carried out by army's counter insurgency Rashtriya Rifles and police's Special Operation Group after a specific information that militants are hiding in a residential house in the Anantnag village on Monday.
