Udupi: Habitual chain snatcher arrested, ornaments recovered

Udupi, Nov 26: Police personnel from Hiriyadka station in the taluk, on Wednesday November 25, arrested a person on the allegation of snatching chains by particularly targeting aged women who were unaccompanied.

The police have recovered 68 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 2.10 lac from him, besides a Honda Activa scooter.

It is learnt that the arrested accused was involved with chain snatching cases at several places including Harikhandige and Pernankila. He has been identified as Prashant Shetty (31), a resident of Bellampalli village.

The arrest was made by a team led by Hiriyadka police sub-inspector, Rafique, under the guidance of Brahmavar police circle inspector, Arun B Nayak.
