Puttur, Dec 1: Muhammed Hanif (31) from Belandur, who reportedly was involved with ganja trafficking in Andhra Pradesh, and was evading arrest by policemen of Rayavaram police station in that state, was arrested by the policemen here.

Sometime back, an Innova car had met with an accident at a spot within the limits of Rayavaram polie staion. Muhammed Hanif, who was driving the car, had fled from the scene of the accident, and during inspection, police had found ganja packets inside the car. During investigation, policemen found that the power of attorney to use the car was given by Santosh from Gadiyara in Bantwal taluk, who owns the car, to Hanif. After coming to know about the incident, Santosh had filed a complaint in the town station, accusing Hanif of using the car for illegal purposes.

Hanif had come to the town to appear in the court in the above case, when the policemen arrested him for his involvement with ganja trafficking. They informed policemen from Rayapuram station about the arrest. After the accused was produced in the court, the case was transferred to Yalamanchili court in Andhra Pradesh in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh. Policemen of Rayavaram took over custody of the accused.
