Dharwad, Dec 1 (DHNS): The Rashtriya Swayam Sevak (RSS) has expressed its condolences to the family of Kannada scholar M M Kalburgi who was shot dead by two unknown men at his residence here on August 29.
On Monday, RSS North Karnataka joint secretary Shridhar Nadgir visited ‘Soujanya’, Kalburgi’s residence at Kalyan Nagar in Dharwad, and handed over the letter to the writer’s wife Umadevi.
Nadgir said the Sangh had offered its heartfelt condolences to the slain scholar during the RSS national meet held at Ranchi on October 30.
Strongly condemned
The RSS also strongly condemned the killing of Kalburgi, he said. “This organisation (RSS), which has a history of 90 years, respects people of all beliefs and their principles.
“The people who have verbally attacked the RSS, too, have been shown respect. The pain of losing Prof Kalburgi will remain forever. The people behind this heinous crime should not be spared and the truth will be unearthed soon,” he said.
He said accusing any organisation of involvement in the writer’s killing without proper evidence was unfair.
The RSS will request the State government to step up the investigation and nab Kalburgi’s killers at the earliest, he added.
