Udupi: Pedestrian killed by speeding car at Padubidri

Udupi, Dec 2: In an accident which occurred near Padubidri in the taluk late evening on Monday November 30, a pedestrian was killed by a car. The killer vehicle remains untraced.

The deceased has been identified as Nagaraj (53) from Andhra Pradesh, who was hired by Navayuga Constructions, which has been executing highway widening work here, as supervisor.

A car which came from the direction of Karkala hit Nagaraj, who was crossing the rod near Subrahmanya temple arch at Padebettu near Padubidri. Nagaraj, who was found lying unconscious at the spot, was admitted into a private hospital at Mangaluru. He breathed his last on Tuesday morning.

Although some locals chased the car, they failed to stop or properly identify it. A case about the accident stands registered in Padubidri police station, and investigation has been undertaken.
