Mangaluru, Dec 4: Student inmates of Morarji Desai PU Minority Residential college hostel at Natekal in Deralakatte here are up in arms against the high-handed behaviour of the warden. Alleging that the warden in question had snatched away cellphones of eight students and physically assaulted them, the students held a protest on Thursday December 3.

This hostel had been in the news for wrong reasons a few months back. Several students of the hostel had got admitted into hospital after developing complications. On that occasion, the students had taken ill due to food poisoning. The warden had been blamed for negligence in that incident.

It is said that when the students approached the warden seeking their mobile phones back, he behaved inhumanly and beat them up. Angered at this development, the students boycotted their classes on Thursday to express their disapproval of the warden's behaviour and held protest, demanding the suspension of the warden.
