Mangaluru: KPT alumni reunion on Dec 27; college to be renovated, says minister Jain

Mangaluru, Dec 4: Abhaychandra Jain, minister for sports and youth affairs on Friday December 4 announced that Karnataka Polytechnic (KPT) Alumni Association will hold a reunion on December 27. He also said that KPT would be renovated soon.

Addressing a press meet at KPT here, Abhaychandra Jain, who is an alumnus of KPT and honorary president of of the Alumni Association said, "KPT college was started in 1946 and has given education to a large number students across Dakshina Kannada and other districts. This is one of the best diploma colleges in the district. But now this college is in a bad state and there is a need for renovation.

"The alumni association has decided to undertake the renovation of this college with the cooperation of the government. In this regard, the government has already sanctioned Rs 90 lac and the amount will be released shortly. There is an estimate of about Rs 2.7 crore for the complete renovation of this college. As our alma matter will turn 75 years in 2020, it is our aim to get it in good condition. In this regard, in order to contribute something to our alma matter, the reunion will be held on December 27. We request all the old students of this college to take part in this programme," he said.

Bhaskar, president of Karnataka Polytechnic Alumni Association said, "Karnataka Polytechnic Alumni Association was started in 2001 and registered in 2002. This college has given education to thousands of students and the alumni are spread across the world. We request all the old students to take part in the reunion on December 27."

    It is nice to know that Mr Abhaychandra is taking the initiative of renovating KPT. In order for the old students to come together to help Mr Abhaychandra in this mission, I suggest a) Make alumini registration easy by deleting mandatory status for REGN #. b) Wider publicity needed via social media to reach out to KPT old students spread across the Globe. c) Provide Bank account details for contributions. d) Seek voluntary representation from each country to influence Alumni registration and contribution.
    It is also suggested to renovate the two hostel buildings and improve the living conditions there.

    Well done Mr Abhaychandra and the committee members.

    To all Politicians
    If Delhi Polytechnic can become Delhi Engineering college , why cant K.P.T, being an very old institution. This is one of the largest polytechnic in India as i have visited many areas of nation.
    This is neglected by Ministers very much. This must be upgraded to Engineering college & conduct B.E studies/courses or lateral entries to B.E.Science & Technology are the fields which are far developing as years pass. I myself an ex-student of K.P.T & work outstation since 2 decades.

    Nice to know that the Alumni Association is taking an active part to bring back the old students and relive fond memories. Wish the organizers all the very best and am sure with our very own Alumni and Cabinet Minister Mr Abayachandra jain , the event will be a grand success. Looking forward to taking part in the event.

    KPT should start hand son practical training for the students in High tech areas by bringing Model machinery..equipment's like: Water jet cutting machines.. CNC: Routers: Laser : 3D : Hardware: soft ware etc..students should be hand son ..practical plus they should work during summer vacation..
