Mangaluru, Dec 4: Abhaychandra Jain, minister for sports and youth affairs on Friday December 4 announced that Karnataka Polytechnic (KPT) Alumni Association will hold a reunion on December 27. He also said that KPT would be renovated soon.
Addressing a press meet at KPT here, Abhaychandra Jain, who is an alumnus of KPT and honorary president of of the Alumni Association said, "KPT college was started in 1946 and has given education to a large number students across Dakshina Kannada and other districts. This is one of the best diploma colleges in the district. But now this college is in a bad state and there is a need for renovation.
"The alumni association has decided to undertake the renovation of this college with the cooperation of the government. In this regard, the government has already sanctioned Rs 90 lac and the amount will be released shortly. There is an estimate of about Rs 2.7 crore for the complete renovation of this college. As our alma matter will turn 75 years in 2020, it is our aim to get it in good condition. In this regard, in order to contribute something to our alma matter, the reunion will be held on December 27. We request all the old students of this college to take part in this programme," he said.
Bhaskar, president of Karnataka Polytechnic Alumni Association said, "Karnataka Polytechnic Alumni Association was started in 2001 and registered in 2002. This college has given education to thousands of students and the alumni are spread across the world. We request all the old students to take part in the reunion on December 27."
