Mangaluru, Dec 6: Large crowds gathered at Padua School grounds here on Sunday December 6 to witness a fascinating Christmas mobile show by NGO White Doves.
The colourful show, aptly titled '2015 Year Old Fact in a Mobile Act' depicted the life and times of St Daniel.
Addressing the gathering, bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza said, "From the past 21 years White Doves team has been staging plays depicting instances from the holy Bible. These plays convey a message to all of us, about how much god loves us and that He will always protect us. Today we saw the story of Daniel which gave us a message that if we believe in the Lord, He will always protect us.
"White Doves has done excellent work for the betterment of the society. I wish all success to the mission taken up by Corrine Rasquinha. White Doves is coming up with a 200-bed psychiatric destitute nursing home at Maroli. May White Doves continue its good work, and may God shower His blessings on its team and all of you gathered here," the bishop said.
Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo said, "There is hardly a person who does not know about White Doves. Probably that might be the reason all of you have gathered here in such large numbers. God has sent us all with a task. White Doves has been rendering its service towards the society irrespective of caste, creed or religion. We Christians have a responsibility to spread the Word of God. White Doves has fulfilled its task. I congratulate the team and wish them all the success in their future endeavours."
MLC Ivan D'Souza said, "I congratulate White Doves and its entire team. They have been doing really good work for the society. They are doing God's work, the work that goverment is supposed to do. I wish them all success."
Under the leadership of Corrine Rasquinha, founder president of White Doves, and Vitus Rasquinha, trustee, more than 125 artistes rendered a stupendous performance and won the hearts of the crowd. The apt and attractive stage settting, costumes and sounds and lights perfectly complemented the performances. All in all, the play transported the audience to a different world.
Parish priest of St Sebastian Church, Bendore Fr Antony Serrao was felicitated on the occasion.
Jeethan Sequeira, proprietor of Cargo Links was also present on the dais.
White Doves has been presenting mobile shows in many places over the last 21 years. The Mangaluru show was the culmination of three shows held this Christmas, with the earlier ones being held at Jilla Kreedangana, Hassan on December 4 and on December 5 at Belur College grounds. All of them witnessed great success with huge crowds turning up.
