Seven troopers injured in Kashmir guerrilla attack


Srinagar, Dec 7 (IANS): Seven troopers were injured on Monday when their convoy was fired at by guerrillas in south Kashmir's Anantnag district, police said.

A police official told IANS here, "A CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) convoy going from Srinagar to Jammu was fired at by militants at Semthan near Bijbehara town in Anantnag district today (Monday).

"Seven CRPF troopers belonging to 53 and 179 battalion of CRPF were injured in this attack. The area has been cordoned off and the injured have been shifted to sub-district hospital Bijbehara for treatment," the official added.

The official said reports from the site said the guerrillas were wearing army uniforms when they attacked the CRPF convoy.
