Mumbai, Aug 21: “The essence of our life lies on the upbringing of our ancestors. Hence, it is essential to respect our ancestors and elders. Their guidance serves as moral blessing. Those who respect them will have long life. It is the religious norm to convey best wishes. One should serve with total honesty. Better results are assured, if one discharges his duties to the best of his conscience. The youth are not justified of their notion that yakshagana seems to be only dance for them. Moreover it is the duty of the elders to educate the youth on the significance of yakshagana, how it evolved for ages, cultural values besides guarding the sanctity of yakshagana”, said Sadashiv Shanthi.
He was speaking during the annual day celebration of Sri Sacchidanand Saraswat Yakshagana Troupe, Mumbai which was held at Karnataka Sangh Dr Vishweshvarayya auditorium, Matunga (West) on Sunday August 18.
The meeting was presided over by N N Pal, CEO of Sri Druga Parameshwari Credit Co-Op Society, Parkala. Corporation Bank GM, N N Pal was the guest of honour. G V Masurkar, former CEO of S V C Bank, Vishnumurthy Nayak, principal of Our Lady of Fathima High School, Malad, were present. Vandana V Bhat and Sourab S Bhat were presented with talent award.
The programme began with the prayers rendered by Troupe artistes. Sadanand D Nayak, Yakshagana Troupe executive president welcomed and delivered the key note address. Honorary chief secretary Ramanand S Nayak, compered the programme.
