Lovely to be nominated for Grammy again: Anoushka Shankar

New Delhi, Dec 9 (IANS): Internationally acclaimed sitarist Anoushka Shankar, whose album "Home" has been nominated for the Grammy Awards, says she is "thrilled" for it.

She has been nominated for the Best World Music Album category along with Gilberto Gil, Angelique Kidjo, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Zomba Prison Project. This is Anoushka's fifth Grammy nomination.

"I am thrilled, it's lovely to be nominated again and it is always lovely to be nominated. But particularly to have a classical album of really pure Indian ragas done in a simple, traditional way... to have that nominated is really lovely not just for me, but for the music as well," Anoushka told IANS here.

Anoushka, daughter of late sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, will be starting a tour in India from Mumbai on December 12. Then she will head to Delhi on December 13 and Jaipur on December 15, ending her tour in Bengaluru on December 18.

"It's lovely for it (the nomination to be announced) to happen here (when I am here), as I am touring India starting this week. And it is an album about India and about Indian music," she said.

Her tour is being curated by Alchemist Marketing Solutions. Anoushka will be joined by her husband and film director Joe Wright, and her two sons, Zubin and Mohan.
