4-day Mysuru silk sarees exhibition cum sale inaugurated

Mangaluru, Dec 11: Deputy Commissioner, A B Ibrahim inaugurated the exhibition cum sale of Mysuru silk sarees organised by the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC) at Mangaluru Pradeshik Hindi Prachar Samithi, Nehru Avenue road here on Friday December 11.

The exhibition would be held till December 14 from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm.









Speaking at the occasion A B Ibrahim said "Mysore state, under Wodeyars' rule, was known to be very progressive state. Many industries were set up and Mysore silk factory was one among them. It has completed hundred years and it is matter of pride. In spite of competition from the western goods, it has still continued its legacy and is doing well. I wish all the success to this exhibition cum sale organized here."

S Philomen Raj, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, KSIC said, “About ten Electronic jacquards are installed in our factory which enable us to manufacture a saree within a day. Ten more jacquards will be installed. The specialty of these saris is, they are water proof. We use a chemical called scotch guard which makes the sarees water proof. It protects the saree from any form of liquid like coffee, tea or oil. The exhibition, which will be held from December 11 to 14, will showcase variety of sarees with the price range between Rs 13,000 to 2.5 lac. We are expecting sales worth Rs 35 to 40 lac 4 days of exhibition."
