FIR against Uttar Pradesh congress chief in Agra

Agra, Dec 12 (IANS): An FIR has been registered against the Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Nirmal Khatri for allegedly morphing a photo showing an RSS activist disturbing relief operations in flood affected Chennai, police said.

The complaint was lodged on Friday by senior Bhartiya Janta Party leaders and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh workers accusing the Congress of tarnishing the image of the organisation by using a stray 2010 photo of some unidentified people to target the RSS.

Asim Choudhary, circle officer Sadar police station, said Khatri has been booked under Section 469 in the Indian Penal Code and 66D of the Information Technology Act.

Before verifying the contents, the photo became viral on Facebook and other social networking sites.

Meanwhile, it was reliably learned that Khatri has expressed regret and withdrawn the photo.
