Mangaluru: Bishop Aloysius blesses recovered tabernacle at Fajir church

Mangaluru, Dec 11: Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, bishop of Mangaluru, visited Our lady of Mercy church at Fajir on Friday December 11 and blessed the recovered tabernacle which was stolen earlier.















Thieves had stolen tabernacle, along with other things, from the newly inaugurated church on November 24. The stolen tabernacle was found in the evening on the day of the theft near Harekal.

Two alleged thieves were also arrested after a week.

Speaking to media persons, bishop, said, “The thieves had stolen the holy host. The blessed host has the essence of Catholic community in it. The devotees were praying since the morning on the day of the theft. The stolen blessed host was found in the evening as a result of the prayers but other items are still not found. The blessed host has been kept back in the church after prayers as requested by the parish priest.

Fajir, Our Lady of Mercy church priest Fr Valerian Pinto and guest priest Fr Benjamin Pinto of Mudipu church were present.
