Mangaluru, Dec 12: Mangaluru Christian Council in association with various Christian organizations and forums on Saturday December 12 organized 'Souharda Christmas' at Milagres hall here.
The programme began with the invocation. Rev Sandeep Theophil, secretary of Mangaluru Christian Council welcomed the gathering.
The function was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp by all the dignitaries on the dais.
Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, bishop of Mangaluru said, "Our roots are in Jesus Christ and he has united us all. The prince of peace and love was born in a humby stable at a time of unrest and violence and a world full of sin. We need to ask ourselves, are we ready to give Jesus a place in our hearts?
"We must inculcate within us peace, joy and love of Christ, find Christ in ourselves and others, be messengers of peace and love like our saviour Jesus and follow his footsteps," he added.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Geevarghese Mar Divannasios, bishop of Syro Malankara Catholic diocese of Puttur said, "Alexender Pope quoted 'What do I profit if Jesus is born in thousands of cribs all over the world during this Christmas but is not born in my heart'. What is the use if we do not make it easy for Jesus to dwell in our hearts? Let us fill our hearts with only the good things. I wish all of you a happy Christmas."
Various entertainment programmes like singing, dances and mimicry enthralled the gathering.
Gladis D'Silva and Dr Laveena Noronha, director of Ave Maria Palliative Care were the other dignitaries on the dais.
