Mangaluru, Dec 14: In a case of 'police' becoming robbers, a person has lost Rs 24.95 lacs. The incident which had taken place on Wednesday December 9 has come to light late as the police complaint was lodged only on Saturday, December 12.
A person has complained to the Mangaluru rural police that some unknown persons introduced them as police, abducted him in a Bolero vehicle on Wednesday December 9 and snatched Rs 24.95 lac from him.
Zubair (26) from Kozhikode in Kerala is the complainant.
As per the complaint, Zubair left Mumbai on Tuesday December 8 to reach Mangaluru on December 9. While Zubair walking near the Kankanady railway station after getting down from the train, four persons who arrived in a white Bolero vehicle introduced themselves as police personnel after showing identity cards. Then they asked him to sit in the vehicle and took him by force towards Farangipet via Padil. On the way they snatched Zubair's mobile and Rs 24.95 lac he was carrying and dropped him at Maripalla.
Zubair said in his complaint that he worked for a company in Mumbai and he was asked by his employer to carry cash and give it to a person.
The police received the complaint on Saturday after three days of the incident. But they have registered the complaint. The reason for delay in filing the complaint is not known.
Mangaluru rural police are investigating the case on 'police.'
