Mangaluru, Dec 14: The Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama (SKJU) celebrated its 90th anniversary with a massive gathering at Nehru Maidan here on Sunday December 14.
Addressing the 'Samastha - 90' programme,district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai said, "Some forces are trying to incite communal tension in Dakshina Kannada district. It is important to stop them. Those who spoil the society by spreading rumours and falsehood are anti-nationals. I pray to God that He does not give anyone a heart that hates, but a heart that only loves."
Health minister U T Khader said, "Over the last 90 years, Samastha has moulded youngsters into good, responsible citizens. Hence the young generation of today needs to take guidance from Ulamas like Samastha."
SKJU vice-president Sayyed Hyderali Shihab Tangal Panakkad said that intolerance against minorities has been increasing in the country of late."Intolerance against minorities in the country is increasing. Attempts are being to dictate what one must eat, talk and which religion one must follow. Communalism and terrorism which are deterrent to tolerance and peace are highly condemnable. In modern times, media, especially social media are increasingly being misused to spread hatred. Strict measures should be taken to stop this trend," he said.
He also asserted that there was no connection between the terror organization ISIS and Islam. "Do not link Islam with ISIS. Peace is the basic principle of Islam. Every Muslim should assimilate in him the true values of Islam, its traditions and maintain its purity, and thus build a healthy society," he said.
Samastha chief secretary Shaikhuna Zainul Ulama Cherusheri Zainuddin Musliyar presided over the programme. Sayyed Mohammed Jifri Muttukoya Tangal led the dua. Dr Bahauddin Nadvi Koriad, Mohammed Faizi, Nasser Faizi Koddatayi, Iqbal C P and many others were present as guests.
On the occasion, over a thousand social workers of 'Vikhaya' serving under the aegies of SKSSF were dedicated to the society. Qazi Twaka Ahmed Musliyar handed over uniforms to the volunteers.
Chief convenor of the reception committee of the programme K M Ismail Kalladka was felicitated on the occasion. Special editions of 'Suprabhatam', 'Sunni Sandesha' and Al-Aqsa's 'Al-Ahsan' were released.
