Mumbai, Dec 16: The second annual friends meeting of Khalsa College Matunga Kannada Premi Mandali was held at Swami Nithyananda auditorium, Sion east under the guidance of Dr Sunitha M Shetty on Sunday December 13. “The gathering of old students reminds us of old memories and the golden age of student life. This is a characteristic of human race,” said Sunitha Shetty.
In the programme led by old students, retired assistant librarian Harish G Poojary, Radhakrishna Rai, Vikranth Urwal, Jayakrishna Shetty, Rony Olivera, Dhananjay Shetty, Shanker Suvarna, Sadananda Shetty, Moodushedde Vishwanatha Shetty, Padmanabha Shetty, Vasanth Poojary, Chandrahasa Shetty, K Sumithra, Sunder Raj Shetty, Sadashiva K Shetty and several other members were present. The members were honored by presenting flower bouquets.
The programme started with the flute recital by Vinay Kumar. Shanker D Shetty of Delhi gave a keynote address. Chief organizer N M Ramesh gave details of the previous meeting. Vasanth Rai presented accounts.
He said that Rs 45,000 that had remained out of the collections has been donated for the health fund of old student Dinesh.
Old students of Kannada Premi Mandali have donated Rs 10,000 to Mumbai Kannada Sangha and Padmanabha Shetty has contributed Rs 15,000 additional amount raising the fund amount to Rs 25,000. Kannada Sangha is holding Kannada lectures by different scholars with the interest earned on Rs 25,000. The members expressed their appreciation for it.
Most of the senior students participated and expressed their opinions. Artists from local arts association presented a dance. Old student Nagesh Kumar's son Sai Kumar read a poem written by him. Member Ravindra Suvarna sang a song. Sadananda Bontra Pune sang Yakshagana songs and entertained the audience.
