Bangalore, Aug 25: The city police arrested 2 persons, including former Madhya Pradesh volleyball player Anjani Kumar Singh and seized 5 kg of heroin worth over Rs 6 crore in the international market, Police Commissioner Neelam Achutha Rao said on Friday.
Speaking to newspersons here, Rao said the seizure marked the biggest haul in the city so far and investigations were on to unearth its final destination and sources.
Rao said the arrested included Eisanulla of Pedava village in Jalawar district of Rajasthan and Anjani Kumar Singh of Pipalani, Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.
Anjani Kumar Singh had represented Madhya Pradesh at the national level.
He said the police pounced on the accused near Berry Circle Auto Stand at Church Street in the city last evening following a definite tip-off.
A police team led by DCP Central Range BNS Reddy, was conducting further investigations after getting both the accused into their custody.
