Udupi, August 26: The ‘Best College Award for Projects’ for 2006-07 was won by the N M A M Institute of Technology, Nitte, from the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) in the recently held state-level seminar-cum-exhibition of student projects. The event was hosted by KLES college of Engineering and Technology, Belgaum, stated a press release issued by the N M A M Institute here, recently.
This prestigious award was won by the Nitte based Institute for the second time, and was received by the coordinator of the projects, Radhakrishnana along with the team, from H P Khincha the vice-chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.
KSCST secretary M K Surappa was present on the occasion. All the three KSCST-sponsored projects presented by the institute from the departments of Biotechnology, Computer Science and Civil Engineering received the ‘Best Project of the Year’ awards.
“Network Gaming for Mobile”, a computer science project by Padmaraj, Poojith and Pranav under the guidance of Manjunath Kotari bagged the ‘Best Project of the Year’ award along with cash prizes. This gaming computer science project helps in chatting and playing chess using ‘Blue Tooth’ applications.
Biotechnology students Shiva Prasad Nayak, Gurukiran Samaga, N Ravikiran Bhatt and Sandeep Mohan Bhandarkar’s project “Water Pollution Monitoring Using Weakly Electrical Fish” done under the guidance of N Vidyavathi, bagged another ‘Best Project of the Year’ award.This project basically makes use of sensitive fish to monitor water pollution levels.
The commendation certificate was won by civil engineering students Shreyas, K V Sirisha, Pankil Desai, Aditya Shenoy and Shashank for their project “Identification, Delineation and Mapping of Micro-watersheds and Rehabilitation Studies on Traditional Rainwater Harvesting Structures in the Mulki River Basin”
