Mangaluru, Dec 20: Activists of Bajrang Dal on Sunday December 20 raided theatres in the city and stopped the screening of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's latest movie 'Dilwale' directed by Rohit Shetty.
The activists raided threatres in Bharat Mall, City Centre Mall and Forum Fiza Mall and forcibly stopped the screening of the movie.
The Bajrang Dal activists conducted the raid in protest against Shah Rukh Khan's statement on 'intolerance' that 'religious intolerance and not being secular is the worst kind of crime that you can do as a patriot'. He had made this statement on November 2, and had later reportedly retracted it and apologized.
The raid follows a string of protests by VHP, Bajrang Dal and other right-wing outfits throughout the country against the Bollywood superstar.
In view of security concerns, the screening of the movie was stopped in the theatres, sources said.
Speaking to daijiworld, Bajrang Dal convenor Sharan Pumpwell confirmed the raids and said that the activists stopped the screening of the movie in the malls. "We did this in protest against Shah Rukh Khan's statement on intolerance," he said.
Sources also said that after conducting the raid, the activists warned theatre managements against screening any movie featuring Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.
