Kundapur: Catholic Women’s Regional Conference Held

Kundapur, Aug 27: “Women should join the national main stream to give their best to the welfare of masses by actively involved in all the activities. This would help them, in the welfare of their own families and also get training in the national politics. Thus proving their gender quality with men and learning the lesson of self-reliance, self-confidence and self-respect.” Said Episcopal vicar of Udupi, Fr Dr Baptist Menezes while presiding over the Catholic Women’s regional conference of Kundapur varado organized under the joint auspices of Catholic Women’s Association of Kundapur Varado and Sastan Units on Sunday Aug 26
Fr Maxim Furtado, spiritual director of Catholic Women’s Association of Kundapur varado inaugurated the conference. He advised them to be a model for women of other religions by following the best principles of their own religion. Moreover to make significant progress in this regard, they should have the necessary knowledge of their culture, awareness of their environment, financial security, and their progress. This would certainly help them to face the competitive world out side their families.
The Kundapur Warado parish priest and Vicar Foreign Fr Antony Lobo, said in his discourse that women could find their ways and means to face their individual and family problems provided they had to work hard with a sense of devotion and service ahead of achieving success, in different fields of welfare activities and programs. He also enlightened the members of the gathering with tips for solving many of their problems and predicaments.
Fr Sylvester Pereira, vice president of central community of women’s association Leena Roche, vice president of Sasthan parish council, Sylvester D’Souza were present on the podium and conveyed best wishes.
The function began with welcome dance by Sanita Lewis. President of women’s Association of Kundapur varado, Mable D’Souza, welcomed the guest. Secretary of women’s Association of Kundapur varado, Reshma Lobo presented annual report. Preethi Fernandes, proposed vote of thanks. Rita D’Almeida Sasthan and Ancilla Carvallo Hangloor compered the program. The presidents of 8 units held the march fast. Over 400 members of women’s Associations from Kundapur Varado attended the conference.
