Mangaluru, Dec 21: Alva's Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva on Monday December 21 announced that the national-level cultural extravaganza 'Alva's Virasat- 2015' organized by the Alva's Education Foundation will be held on December 24 to 27 at Vanajakshi K Shripathi Bhat stage, Vivekananda Nagara, Puttige.
Addressing a press meet here, Dr Alva also announced that the Alva’s Virasat Award - 2015 will be conferred on well-known multi-lingual playback singer Padmashri Dr S P Balasubrahmanyam.
Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade will inaugurate the programme and Nitte Education Trust chairman N Vinay Hegde will preside over it.
The inaugural day will be followed by a musical concert consisting of violin fusion 'Naadasurabhi' by Mysuru Nagaraj, Dr Mysore Manjunath, Vidwan Ganesh and Vidwan Kumaresh Chennai. They will be accompanied by Pandith Ramdas Pulsule on the tabla, Arun Kumar on a special musical instrument and Shankar Swamy on the Mrudangam.
A musical orchestra by Padamashri Dr SP Balasubrahmanyam will follow.
On the second day there will be a 'Raagarangoli' by Dr Kadri Gopalnath accompanied by Vikku Vinayakaram on Gataham, Praveen Godkindi on flute, Selvi Ganesh on Kanjera, Tanjavoor Govindrajan on Thavil, Vijay Ghate on the tabla, Thoufiq Qureshi on the D'Jambe and V Umesh on the keyboard.
Kavali and Sufi songs by Ustad Munavar Masoom and team, Mumbai will be next in line.
On the third day Nadasangama by Kalaimaamani Shivamani will be conducted and then the cultural events by the students of Alva's Foundation will follow.
On Sunday December 27, 'Alva's Varanasiri Virasat- 2015' will be conferred on Padmashree Dr Manu Parekh, New Delhi. A music concert by Vijay Prakash Mumbai, Karthik Chennai and Mahalakshmi Iyyer Kerala will also be held.
