Mangaluru, Dec 25: Social activist and coordinator of Citizens' Forum for Mangalore Development Vidya Dinker has filed a complaint against a Bajrang Dal leader and 21 others for allegedly abusing and threatening her on Facebook.
Vidya Dinker had on December 21 filed a complaint against Bajrang Dal for forcibly stopping the screening of the 'Dilwale' movie in multiplexes in the city on December 20. A case was subsequently filed in the Pandeshwar police station.
Following this, Bajrang Dal co-convener Punith Raj Kottari and other activists, condemning Vidya Dinker for complaning against the right-wing outfit, allegedly made derogatory remarks against her and attempted to intimidate her.
Also, as per the FIR filed late night on Thursday December 24, a Facebook page called 'Veera Kesari' and its followers uploaded remarks threatening to physically assault, rape and murder the complainant. The FIR also states that death threat and defamatory comments were made against Dinker through propaganda by various other means.
Based on the complaint filed by Dinker, the Kadri police have registered an FIR under IPC sections 354 D(2), 506, and 500, and under IT Act 67 and 67A.
Police commissioner S Murugan on December 24 had told reporters in a press meet that following the complaint by Vidya Dinker, the main accused was called to the police station and issued a stern warning, and also that the derogatory posts were removed from Facebook.
