US man clicks selfie near active volcano

London, Dec 27 (IANS): Taking the selfie craze to an all new level, a Los Angeles man went to the brink of an active volcano to click one.

Nik Halik was climbing the Benbow volcano on Ambrym Island, Vanuatu, when he decided to click a quick picture with his smartphone, Express.co.uk reported.

Although quick Instagram "Likes" may be ringing in Halik's mind, the quest for a hot selfie was indeed dangerous, according to his fellow traveller Bradley Ambrose.

Ambrose said the heat was staggering, and the toxic gases pumping out of the volcano proved difficult.
