Mangalore: Sahyadri Institute of Technology to Commence Classes from Sep 6

Mangalore, Aug 31: Sahyadri Institute of Technology, a unit of Bhandary Foundation, located close to Netravathi river beside National Highway 48 at Adyar, has got all the approvals from both central and state governments and which will start classes from Thursday September 6, said Manjunath Bhandary, chairman of Bhandary Foundation.
While speaking at a press conference held in the college premises on Friday August 31, he said that Bhandary Foundation was engaged in nursing and teaching, in the past. Meanwhile, Foundation has realized the opportunities unlimited at the globalization era and has decided to set up a technical college here, he informed.
The college has already got the approval from the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The government of Karnataka has also approved this college and included in the seat matrix, he added.
Engineering College will be providing courses in computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, information science and engineering, mechanical engineering. A total of 60 students will be admitted for each course, during this academic year. Out of the total seats in the college, a total of 152 seats will be filled through government CET system, Manjunath Bhandary said.
The college is located on 25 acres of land and the only engineering college which is close to the city. The faculty members headed by the principal Dr D L Prabhakar will manage this college. The management provides necessary infrastructure only. Most of the faculty members are PhD degree holders and experts in their respective fields, he said.
