Mangalore: Sanskrit Scholar T Raghuchandra Shetty (89) Passes away

Beltangady / Mangalore, Sep 1: Senior member of the Jain community, noted Kannada and Sanskrit scholar, man of letters, playwright and linguist Vidwan T Raghuchandra Shetty (89) passed away here on August 31 following a brief illness.
His end came at the residence of his son Dr B Yashovarma, professor at SDM College, Ujire near here.
Hailing from a respectable family of Todar near Moodbidri, he studied Sanskrit in Karkala and later obtained Kannada Vidwan and Sahitya Shiromani in Sanskrit from Madras University.
He thereafter served as lecturer in Jain Junior College, Moodbidri for about 35 years.
Shetty had chaired the Beltangady taluk literary meet held at Venur in 1996 and had also authored several scholarly books.
He is survived by wife, five sons and two daughters including Hemavati, wife of Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala.
His final rites were held at Perady near Naravi in the taluk.
