59 sixes, 129 fours: Mumbai teenager scores 1009 in 323 balls!

Mumbai, Jan 5 (PTI): Mumbai teenager Pranav Dhanawade today scripted history by becoming the first batsman ever to notch up a four-figure score by smashing an unbeaten knock of 1009 in an inter-school tournament here.

The 15-year-old, playing for KC Gandhi Higher Secondary School, reached the gigantic score in just 323 deliveries with a jaw-dropping strike rate of 312.38 in the game against Arya Gurukul in the Bhandari Cup inter-school tournament organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

In the course of his awe-inspiring innings, which lasted 395 minutes, Dhanawade smashed a whopping 129 fours and 59 sixes.

The epic knock ended when his school declared at 1465, which is also a world record. His school went past Victoria's 1107 against New South Wales made way back in 1926.

Pranav now holds the record for the highest individual score in any form of cricket, bettering AEJ Collins' 628 not out for Clark's House against North Town in 1899 in the UK. Dhanawade was unbeaten at 652 at stumps yesterday.

    Even if the bowlers were very bad, ground is small, getting over 100 runs is a big achievement and a big salute to this young kid. The question whether he is going to be a superstar or it is just another one good innings, only time will tell. For those cricket lovers pleas give a thought of these statistics. He broke the world record of Arthur Collins who scored 628 not out in 1899. He broke the Indian record of Prithvi Shaw who scored 546 during 2013/14 season in Harris shield. Sir Jack Hobbs who is the leading run scorer in first class cricket (more than 61000 runs) did not become the great in international cricket though he did well. There are lot of cricketers who can't transfer their first class talent to international cricket. We have examples of Ajay Sharma, Atul Bedade, Brijesh Patel, Vinod Kambli ..and many more.. fingers crossed for this boy as well as for the other young kid (Prithvi Shaw) who scored 546.

    Waw! no words will come to explain his innings!! this is of never beaten record set by the futuristic hero of Indian Cricket. Congratulation Master Pranav, keep it up... do not be excited in this record because you have many more distance to achieve in cricket.     People should forget about Sachin, Shewag, Dhoni etc.etc.. This boy can bring laurels to india if he is groomed and trained. Surely has the capacity of an international cricketer. I doubt anyone would be able to make such a kind of score ever in the history of cricket. After 117 yrs we are seeing such scores. Great achievement and good luck to this young lad.

    First Cricketer form Universe, Mr.Pranav Dhanvade made India proud...His father is a taxi driver who came to stadium when his friend informed him that Pranav completed 300 runs..Before Pranav, two more cricketers made a record in under 16 school competition..First one is Wasim Jaffer (400 plus) who represented India too..and second one is Prathvi who made 500 runs..But this performance is stunning one..One needs concentration,aggressiveness and luck..Pranav has all three points..Hope he will represent India and repeat his performance again..All the Best Little Master !!

    3.Munaf Patel was living in that place where four wheelers can't go..
    4.Ravindra Jadeja's father was a sweeper in Govt office..
    5.Eknatha Solkar (India's Johnty Rhodes) dad was a Grounds man in Wankhede Stadium..
    6.Vinod Kambli and Tendulkar came from Middle class family,but their condition was better than above cricketers..
