The sealed mobile cart  'Goa Burger King' at the Miramar beach

Panaji, Sep 2: The hazards of junk food and eating out at unhygienic places came to the fore again with eleven city-based students getting admitted to hospital here following suspected food poisoning.

The Food and Drug Administration took samples of the chicken dish and sealed the mobile cart of 'Goa Burger King' at Miramar beach from where the people had eaten chicken 'shawarma'.

Nirav Khaderia (20) and Karan Khaderia (16), residents of Caranzalem, Panaji admitted that they had eaten the chicken takeaway dish bought from the 'Goa Burger King'. Nirav further added that after having the chicken dish in the night along with his brother Karan, he suddenly woke up around 2.30 in the middle of the night and started vomitting. The situation got worse by morning when his bother also started vomitting and had diarrhoea. Later they were admitted to a hospital in the city, where more persons with similar complaints were also admitted.

Deputy inspector general of police Ujwal Mishra said that all the 11 people who are affected by food poisoning were being treated in the hospital. He added that the FDA had siezed all the food items from the mobile cart and seized and sealed the vehicle located at the Miramar beach.

The food samples have been sent to the FDA laboratory in Panaji. Food and Drug Administration director Veljee stated that till the report was received, the mobile cart would remain impounded.
