Cold weather to continue in J&K


Srinagar, Jan 6 (IANS): Night temperatures continued to improve on Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir due to nightlong cloud cover and the Met Office said that cold and dry weather will continue across the state.

The minimum temperature was 2.9 degrees Celsius in Srinagar on Tuesday while it was minus 3.5 degrees Celsius in Pahalgam and in Gulmarg, the minimum temperature was minus 8.0 degrees Celsius, a Met department official told IANS here.

In Leh town of Ladakh region, the minimum temperature was minus 9.3 degrees Celsius while it was minus 10.0 degrees Celsius in Kargil town.

In the Jammu region, the minimum temperature was 9.0 in Jammu city, it was 9.1 degrees Celsius in Katra town, 4.5 degrees Celsius in Batote, 5.0 degrees Celsius in Bannihal, 2.6 degrees Celsius in Bhaderwah and 5.8 degrees Celsius in Udhampur town, the official said.

The official also said from Friday onwards, another spell of rain and snow is expected in Jammu and Kashmir.
