AAP government scraps management quota in Delhi's private schools

New Delhi, Jan 7 (Agencies) : The AAP government on Wednesday said it has decided to scrap the management quota in Delhi's private schools. The schools will have to set aside 25 per cent seats set aside for children from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said.

Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal said,"We have decided to make admission process in private schools transparent and pro-people."

According to the chief minister, the Directorate of Education (DoE) had asked the unaided recognised schools to develop and adopt criteria for admission which shall be clear, well-defined, equitable, non-discriminatory, unambiguous and transparent as per the high court's order.

Why this report does not mention that linguistic and religious minority institutions are exempted from this new rule?
Further, there was a notification of 2013 by your favorite LG and everybody's favorite Sheila Dixit with the same ban. This was turned down by the court.

Excellent move by the Delhi government to curb the corruption from the root. It is a bold step by Aravind Kejriwal and his team, all the mafia should be controlled. This is result of clean money, clean politics, transparent administration and political will power to deliver the assurances given during the election time. It is clear that, government can bring changes if they are honest…. Hope the same module will be followed in other states. Change is in common man’s hand…let us use it wisely… Jai AAP.

If someone runs a business called education, how can you term it as corruption? If they evade tax (as they certainly do) IT dept should look into that.

How you say Education institutions are Business Establishments, these institutions are registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860 or Indian Trusts Act 1882 not under the commercial acts. It is a cover-up business of politicians, businessman, hidden personalities

Are you saying that these are charitable organisations? How they are supposed to generate income?
The issue is you need to regulate them against charging astronomical fee.

Good Move. If it happens in mangalore, soo many so called charitable institutions would close their shops. Not because, it is going to be hard without the donation money, but because it is a best way to swindle money.

It is fair to insist quotas for economically weaker sections. Next, there will be a demand for quota for SC/ST/Dalit/OBC etc etc.
However, how the private schools are supposed to fund themselves if they cannot collect monies? And if they start reducing teacher's salaries, where the quality will head?
