Goods worth lakhs gutted in Shimla fire


Shimla, Jan 8 (IANS): Goods worth lakhs were gutted when a fire engulfed at least six shops in a market here early Friday, an official said. However, no loss of life was reported.

A fire department official said a call about the fire in the Lower Bazaar was received at 3 a.m. Fire engines took more than four hours to control the flames.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the official added.

Police later cordoned off nearby shops.
