Mangalore, Sep 3: A one-day seminar on “Food and Tourism” in collaboration with Taj Manjarun Sarosh Institute of hotel administration, a unit of the Nitte Education Trust, will be organized on September 5, informed a press release here. The seminar will be inaugurated by prof Y G Tharakan, HoD, Hotel Operations, Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, added the release.

The purpose of the seminar is to spell out and highlight the role of food in developing tourism, to learn about the emerging international cuisines popular in India and to provide a platform for interaction between the industry and academia.

Prof Tharakan, who will be the resource person, will speak on the subject ‘Food and its Impact on Tourism’, while Rayan Banze and Memson Barnes will give a talk on ‘Inter relationship between Gastronomy and Tourism’.

A brief report on the 10th IFT Summer International Exchange programme held in Macao from 1 to 6 July, 2007, will also be presented.

Taj Manjarun training manager Suneesh Paul and executive chef Ravi will talk on “Emerging International cuisines – Mediterranean Cuisine and Thai Cuisine.”

The valedictory address will be delivered by Dr Mustiary Begum, coordinator MTA, Mangalore University, the release informed.
