Pakistani execute in Iran for drug smuggling

Islamabad, Jan 9 (IANS): A Pakistani national has been executed in Iran's Yazd town after being convicted for drug smuggling.

Ibratullah was hanged on Thursday after being arrested three months ago. He belonged to Balochistan province, Dawn online reported.

Ibratullah's family confirmed the execution but disputed Iranian authorities' claims that he was involved in drug smuggling.

The man was implicated in a false drug case, a family source said. Ibratullah's body had yet not been handed over to the family, they said.
