JD-U chief slams govt over 'RSS-backed agenda' for science congress

New Delhi, Jan 9 (PTI): JD-U today came down heavily on the government over presentation of some papers at Indian Science Congress in Mysuru, saying it smacked of "RSS backed agenda", which is very "disgusting, ridiculous and dangerous".

"Indian Science Congress is held every year since the year 1914 but we had never seen such a drama-like situation in the Congress as we saw in Mysuru where its main objective to promote the cause of science was missing.

"The RSS backed agenda was seen at such a place. It is very disgusting, ridiculous and dangerous for the unity and integrity of this country as talking about one religion at such functions is nothing but to provoke sentiments of other religions," party President Sharad Yadav said in a statement.

He noted that it was for the first time that people heard at the Science Congress about Lord Shiva as an environmentalist while someone presented a paper on the medical effects of blowing of conch (Shankh).

Yadav was refererring to the 103rd Indian Science Congress that concluded on Thursday in Mysuru, where a paper presented by the Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission on Lord Shiva hailed him as the greatest environmentalist in the world.

Calling Shiva as Lord of Mount Kailash, the paper talked about his powers of providing purified water to human beings.

A lecture by an additional commissioner of Kanpur talked about about blowing the conch (shankh) to achieve health and wellness.

Yadav felt that such papers should not have been presented and talked about at the event.

This congregation looked like a "circus" as was rightly said by one of the Nobel laureates, who went to the extent of saying that he would never again attend the Indian Science Congress, the JD-U President said.

He also recalled that at last year’s Congress in Mumbai, a session titled "Ancient Sciences through Sanskrit" had dwelt on aviation technologies.

Noting that the session talked about aircrafts which could travel to planets and that speakers also dwelt on how Indians flew planes before the Wright brothers did, Yadav said it was "ridiculous".

At the last year's Science Congress in Mumbai, a session titled "Ancient sciences through Sanskrit" had dwelt on aviation technologies in Maharishi Bharadwaj’s Vaimanika Shastra, attracting ridicule.

"Sensitive conferences like Indian Science Congress which is held every year goes through a rigorous scrutiny like which are the papers being presented and who are presenting the papers and so many other things are intensely verified. But in the context of Mysuru Congress, any scrutiny did not seem to have taken place and it was held with other motives of the current government.

"I oppose this kind of action and the government should come out with a strong statement so that such things are not repeated in future," the JD-U President said.

a Person claiming himself to be an American of Indian origin presented a paper in this Mysuru meet- claiming that Cancer is the result of mainly non-vegetarian food and it could be avoided by eating only Vegetarian food. Another scientist who was Jain told that maximum Cancer disease is found in India only among Jains which proves that Vegetarian food do not prevent Cancer.

If that is the case then pure vegetarians should be free from some fatal diseases, but it is not happening as they are prone to all types of ailments. But controling food, drinking more water and exercise one can reduce sickness and live longer.

Shankar, what is mocked at is proven correct many times..Drums,Shankhas,temple bells creates vibrations which have immense effect on human mind & body..that is what learned rationale call sound therapy & charge fee..but its free for us so we mock at..How can we ignore that sages/saints without modern day technology discovered NAVA GRAHA & its geographical structure, their path, eclipse so on..Hundreds of year old PANCHANGA can tell you exact days of eclipses..when we Indians thousands years before know that earth is round, the rationals in west or so called developed people until 18th century believed earth is flat!!..HOLY BOOK says earth revolves (like floating) around sun..but west for long time believed that infact sun revolves around earth with their own proof!!..there is NO evolution theory in our religious text..definitely day will come DARWIN is wrong & what we studied is wrong..already UFOLIGIST debunking evolution theory..If we study religious text or ancient books saints with scientific approach so many things may be discovered..But ignoring it by saying RSS/BJP/MODI is foolishness..

The Mayan Tribe of South America were also telling the exact timings of Eclipses and all planetary moves many decades in advance, even though they had no contact with the outside world before Spanish people like Columbus discovered America.
Mayan & Inca tribes knew about extracting gold from ore and manufacturing iron copper and many other metals even though they were cut-out completely from outside knowledge.
While Indians had the contact with entire world even in ancient days and hence they could exchange and acquire knowledge from other continents like Europe and Asian countries like China Thailand Burma Indonesia Srilanka and middle-east countries the South Amrerican tribes were completely insulated from outside world. So Indian Knowledges was developed due to cultural exchanges, whereas the South American Mayan & Inca knowledges developed only due to internal research and inventions and not from borrowed knowledge. So before patting our own back every time for every thing we should study the history of this world, mainly of Egypt Greek Rome Sumeria China Persia Israel and also South American Tribes.

Mysore university is a university of repute and it was the responsibility of the Vice Chancellor to protect the image of the university. It appears the VC was more engrossed in the making arrangements for the VVIP to arrived to inaugurate instead of going through the contents of the papers presented.

It is good to be proud of our History and rituals.

Eating with hands is good but you will be a fool if you try that with some soup!!

Medical surgeries were performed in ancient India, but in a crude way. There are findings that some African tribes did remove tumorous growths inside the abdomen surgically but in a crude way. But it doesn’t allow us to claim that we were the pioneers of surgery.
The medicinal powers of turmeric is discovered accidentally and not by research. But definitely we can’t ignore these kind of acquired knowledge, just by falling prey for the international pharma mafia.
Pushpaka vimaanam is a glorified version of some flying assist that Ravana had/developed. We cannot completely say it did not exist because, 'Vimaanah" is a sanskrit word which has no other meaning than the present 'aeroplane'. The word wouldn’t have existed in this ancient language, had something like ‘aero plane’ was not there.

Careful and rational approach is required here while both glorifying or nullifying is not advisable.
