Mangaluru, Jan 10: Residents of Nadupadavu protested on Saturday in front of Konaje police station demanding to stop the cow thefts in the area and to arrest the thieves who stole two cows on Friday night.
The thieves had stolen two cows from the house of Purushothama from Nadupadavu. A case has also been registered at Konaje police station regarding the incident.
As per details of the incident, Purushotham has been into dairy business for years. Two of his pregnant cows were accommodated outside the house on Friday night. Purushotham was woken up when he heard the sound of vehicle outside his house. When he came out, he saw his cows forcibly loaded into a Sumo vehicle. He tried his best to stop them from taking his cows. But the thieves who wore the mask threatened him not to come closer to the vehicle by exhibiting knives. Purushotham could not do anything when the thieves took the cows in the vehicle and fled. He immediately informed the Konaje police station. But the police failed to find the vehicle.
On Saturday, the residents in big numbers came to the Konaje police station and protested. They said if the police do not arrest the thieves in the next 48 hours, they will call for district-wide protest. Vishwas Hindu district president Jagadish Shenava, Konaje Bajrang Dal convenor Praveen Kuthar were also present among protestors.
