Mangalore: Sr Stella Pais of Paladka Bags ‘Best Teacher’ Award

Mangalore, Sep 3: Sr Stella Pais, head-teacher of Holy Angels Higher Primary School, Permannur has been selected for district-level ‘Best Teacher’ award for 2007.
She hails from Murkatpalke in Paladka parish near Moodbidri and has been serving as teacher for the last 36 years, under Catholic Board of Education.
She began her teaching career at Little Flower Higher Primary School, Puttur and later served in Roman Catholic Higher Primary School, Basrur, St Antonys’ Higher Primary School, Padukone, Lourdes Higher Primary School Kanajar, St Thomas Higher Primary School, Nirkan and St Josephs’ School, Kulshekhar.
The district administration has selected her for this award in recognition of her outstanding achievements in implementing Education department programmes in the schools. She has been actively involved in women Self-Help Groups also. Moreover, she has been instrumental in forming old students’ association and establishing good rapport with the parents of the students.
Besides, she is now heading a Kannada-medium school which has student strength of 1400. She had significantly endeavoured to secure contributions towards the construction of a new building for St Josephs’ School at Kulshekhar earlier.
The district administration will present the award on Wednesday September 5, during Teachers’ Day celebration, sources said.
