Mumbai, Sept. 4: Amid tight and extra vigil, Janmashtami, the festival marking the birthday of Lord Krishna, was celebrated with pomp, splendour and religious fervour across the country today.



In Mumbai, earthen pots containing a mixture of curd and other items hung across in several areas, some as high as 30 feet, as groups of people journeyed across the city forming human pyramids to break them.

Tens of thousands of devotees thronged temples in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, to offer prayers as the city was wrapped under a massive security cover.






The atmospehere in Mumbai is all abuzz with festivities and all over the country
