Mangalore, Sep 4: “Tulu script has been unravelled, as a result of never ceasing research, while Kerala government has taken steps for its revival” said chief minister, V S Achyuthanandan.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Kerala Tulu Academy, during a programme held at Koti Chennayya stage, in Govind Pai Nagar, Hosangady, on Monday September 3 morning, witnessed by a large number of Tulu buffs.
The chief minister, who spoke in Tulu for the delight of Tuluvas, congratulated them at the historically significant day when Tulu Academy came into existence in the soil of Kerala. It was indeed a memorable event for the Tuluvas living in Kasargod district.
“The plans are underway to undertake research on Tulu script, besides to print Tulu materials in its original script,” CM assured.
M A Baby, minister for education and culture, presided over the programme.
M Veerappa Moily, chairman, Union Administrative Reforms Commission, Karnataka minister for ports and fisheries B Nagaraj Shetty, Kerala revenue minister K P Rajendran, MP P Karunakaran, ex-ministers Cherkalam Abdulla, MLAs, K V Kunhiraman, E Kunhiraman, Zilla Panchayat president M V Balakrishnan Master, Beary parishat president Golden Abdul Khader, district commissioner, S Krishnan Kutty, panchayat president U A Khader were present on the stage.
M K Sitaram Kulal, president, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, Darbe Krishnanand Chowta, eminent litterateur Venkataraj Puninchitthaya also spoke at the occasion.
Ex-MLA M Ramanna Rai, B Rama Rai, Hameed Ali Shimnad, were the chief guests present.
Manjeshwar MLA C H Kunjambu welcomed. Academy special officer M G Narayan Rao, proposed vote of thanks.
