Mangalore: Janmasthami Celebrated with Pomp across Coastal Belt

Mangalore, Sep 4: Sri Krishna Janmasthami, a special occasion for the devotees of Lord Krishna, was celebrated throughout the coastal area with devotion and great fervor on Tuesday, September 4.


Mumbai

Udupi, the city where the temple dedicated to Sri Krishna is located celebrated this auspicious occasion with great joy and affection. Thousands of devotees of lord Krishna offered pujas in Krishna Math and participated in the religious rites and rituals.


Moodbidri

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) celebrated the birthday of Shri Krishna, in Mangalore by offering pujas, singing bhajans and taking out procession Shri Krishna's idol mounted on a vehicle.

More than that, ‘Muddu Krishna’ competition for kids, ‘Mosaru Kudike,’ the competition to break the pots, traditional coconut hitting and rolling competitions have doubled the joy of Janmasthami everywhere. The people here enjoyed the feast irrespective of caste, creed and age. A music concert was also organized near Kadri temple on Tuesday.

Even in taluk centres like Moodbidri, Bantwal, Karkala, Uppinangady etc, people celebrated Krishnasthami, with fervour. Though, raining is common during this feast every year, this year, Krishnasthami witnessed heavy rain than ever. In fact the entire coastal belt has been facing heavy downpour since few days. However, this has not hindered the zeal and dedication of worshipers of Shri Krishna.
